Originally a geologist by training, I have been a geo-environmental engineer for a good portion of my career, but now I am a health and safety advisor in the geo-environmental / geotechnical sector, working for a local company.
Throughout university I held various student representative positions and helped to re-start the university's canoe and kayak club. I still enjoy whitewater kayaking locally and around the UK (and sometimes in France) with my husband Alex. We also swim regularly, both in the pool and outside. When on dry land, we can often be found on the footpaths around the village with our energetic dog Ralph – when it's chilly you can spot me by my tiger hat!
I do enjoy the cold and mountains; I have been on two Arctic expeditions, spending a total of five months in Svalbard in the 2000s. I have been finding excitement closer to home since then, by riding my motorbike and going on trackdays (and trying to remind myself that I'm not a MotoGP rider and that it's not a race!).
I also appreciate the quieter side of life, spending time on the allotment, watching wildlife in the garden, or just lounging with a good book! Once life gets back to normal, I look forward to returning to the pub quiz with friends from work and seeing more of your friendly faces again.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any issues, or just fancy a chat.
